Meet Sunny and his friend, the firefly. This is an illustration I'm working on for a calendar contest - depicting the month of July.
I am continuing to work on this drawing entitled "Whirlpool." The lower part is painted with Japanese pigment which looks like ink. Even though I rarely do this, I wanted to stay true to the original idea of a soft figure "dissolving" into nothingness by leaving the white of the paper as the background; but now I am considering painting it black to bring out the lightness of the figure...
When I first heard about the events in Japan this year, this is the image that came to my mind. Once I finish drawing the figure (whose stillness is inspired by Butoh), the lower part of the composition will be painted with Japanese pigments.
I am almost done with this drawing called "Eye of Horus." It's based on a dream I had a few months ago where someone graffitied the wall and this horse's neck. The graffiti part will be painted with Japanese pigments. In my dream, I could not tell what the graffiti said/meant and I am trying to figure out if I want to stay true to the dream imagery...
