Back in the studio. Finishing up a picture book commission (computer screen) and continuing work on a personal picture book (table).
After a long break, I'm finally back to work on a picture book commission. Already 1/2 way done with the underdrawings. Here's one of them.
Just finished the storyboard for a picture book I'm working on that takes place in Mongolia. Here's a sneak peak of one of the spreads.
Here's a sneak peak of my new body of work for a solo show. I finally started inking one of the pieces today free-hand (i.e. no rulers). The work is based on imaginary Paris.
I like to combine digital and traditional materials and this is what my work process usually looks like:
I had a lot of fun sketching at my first Dr. Sketchy's event in Adelaide. It was a Hollywood Glam theme with live singing and dancing - best live sketching experience ever! Thank you Abby for the prizes. Thank you Dirk for being an entertaining host; and thank you all the lovely people sitting next to me for your company. Also, a special thank you to Maryann and Michael for being such awesome models!
For the last week I've been working on character & composition studies for the Little Red Riding Hood. It started as a personal project which has now turned into something else. More information and images coming soon, so stayed tuned. ;)
Here's a new piece I'm working on. It is inspired by wish trees I saw in the Republic of Georgia. These trees are usually found near sacred places and people tie handkerchieves and pieces of cloth to tree branches while making a wish.
