Back in the studio. Finishing up a picture book commission (computer screen) and continuing work on a personal picture book (table).
I am donating a portion of all proceeds from the sale of my prints to HELP SAVE the Espionage Gallery. This is the first gallery where I exhibited work in OZ, and it is an AWESOME, AWESOME place. Espionage has some great shows and exciting plans for the future, so PLEASE help save it. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!!
My illustration featured on Alliance Française d’Adelaide's website. AF also distributed poster/booklets I designed to kids who will participate in an illustration contest. I will be one of the judges and am VERY, VERY excited to see all the artwork!
Here's a new piece I'm working on. It is inspired by wish trees I saw in the Republic of Georgia. These trees are usually found near sacred places and people tie handkerchieves and pieces of cloth to tree branches while making a wish.
By far my favourite hand that I've ever drawn. All of the anatomy courses I took taught by Scott Eaton are paying off. :)
Last night I felt like doodling. The doodle turned into a sketch. The sketch turned into a photo. And then I thought I can doodle over it with digital brushes and that turned into this. For now, I call it "Fireflies." Still working on the face and other details, so keep on checking back for updates here and on my Facebook page.
I started work on a new "secret" series. Once I have enough new paintings, I'll reveal what it is. In the meantime, here is a sneak peak of a work in progress. With this new series, I am also experimenting with a new way of working which looks something like this:
Step 1: Type the idea using iPad notes
Step 2: Image research
Step 3: DIGITAL sketch
Step 4: Pencil underdrawing
Step 5: Painting (gouache and ink and gold pigment where applicable)
Step 6: Digitise the unfinished image and experiment in Photoshop (the image above is at this stage)
Step 7: Back to painting (using the digital experiment as a guide) until it's complete
Back to work now! :D
